Why do I let myself watch Teen Cribs?

Watching Teen Cribs always drives me crazy. Here's why:

1) these aren't even famous teens. Doesn't that kind of defeat the point?
2) all the houses are insanely nice and I know I will probably be able to afford them
3) these "teens" are really pretty spoiled and seem to be oblivious to that fact
4) usually the teens are annoying jerks who are mean to their siblings/friends/parents while showing their house
5) and sometimes I get jealous.
6) but mostly it's hard to watch someone who feels that entitled, but has contributed so little. At least on real cribs, the people [mostly] have worked hard to live where they live.

That's it. I need to stop watching this frickin' show, but I'm such a sucker for looking at nice houses.

I'm going to be honest. I don't think it's fair to say Amanda Lepore "sings" this song. I think recites would be a more accurate verb. Anytit, this song is a fun time. The video is pretty cute. If you ignore the ~~singing~~ reciting, you could easily think this song was sung by some 13 year old girl and played a sleepover party. About two months ago it was brought to our attention (through the MGMT
message board) that the UMP French political party was using our song
"Kids" at rallies and posting videos of these rallies on their official
website. Normally MGMT steers clear of mixing music and politics,
but the fact that the UMP used our song without permission while
simultaneously pushing anti-piracy legislation seemed a little wack.
We believe that access to music benefits both the musicians and the
fans, and has undoubtedly helped spread our music around the globe,
while also expanding our personal musical collections. We didn't
want to be "typical Americans" and sue, despite the amazing monetary
benefit and chinchilla coats and Navigators it would bring. Instead
we're using the settlement fee the UMP presented and donating it to

Be sure and watch the Miss USA pageant tomorrow night . . . I am going to be a judge! I am so excited!
I can't wait to see all the contestants, what they are wearing, what they have to say, etc. One of the great things I came away with from living at the Mansion is it got me over any dumb jealousy I had toward other women. I think jealousy is built into every one of us females as a survival mechanism, but it is so great to let it go and just be happy for and appreciative of other people. At the Mansion, there was constantly prettier and younger coming along, so you can either be a miserable hater about it, or learn to be happy for other people. I worked as the editor of the Playmate feature in Playboy magazine for several years, and helping someone else look like the hottest thing ever is a lot of fun. A lot more fun than focusing on myself, that's for sure!
I think it's so sad when women get caught up in the drama and defensive around other women. I've even had people take compliments I've given them the wrong way . . . assuming I was being sarcastic or mocking.
Anyway, I am super-excited to help judge this event tomorrow night! I am hoping for some good eye candy and some funny, original, unexpected and smart answers in the Q and A section! It shoujld be a lot of fun!

So, Lost. Here's the situation: I am majorly obsessed. We're talking Duggar-level commitment.

I call Wednesday "Lostday". That's a sad truth.

AnyKate, tonight's episode was great.

Highlight below to read my thoughts and theories (warning - spoilers):

-I think that Ilana, Bram, and their associates are Dharma kids that have banded together against Widmore. Judging by how they sought out Miles, I can't imagine any other purpose. This explains their "what lies in the shadow of the statue" mystery riddle, if they were already there. I don't think they are associated with Ben. Also, apparently all Dharma kids have special powers. -The guy who died from the filling experienced the high electromagnetic properties of the Swan area, right? What if they bring him back to life. No one knows he is dead (save for Miles, Doc Chang, and Hurley) so they could accomplish this with no one being the wiser.
-I'm pretty positive it said "Egyptian" on the chalkboard at Dharma school.

A Case For Kimya Dawson

I found this on Kimya Dawson's myspace blog. Personally, I totally agree with her and know she's right, but this isn't about me. It's about a) what's right and b) facts and c) Kimya Dawson and her BA mommy skills.

The Case FOR Breastfeeding
I don't know if any of you read The Atlantic. A few weeks ago an article was published by a woman named Hanna Rosin called The Case Against Breastfeeding. Basically this woman claimed that if a woman felt that breastfeeding her baby wasn't easy and enjoyable for her she may as well give up and formula feed. She claimed that there wasn't scientific evidence saying that breastfeeding was better. She wrote the article as fact in a way that would let shitloads of mothers maybe having a bit of a hard time nursing their babies, it is HARD sometimes, feel that they were off the hook. She slams La Leche League all over the place, as if this nursing support group is a bunch of loony extremists with it's own weird agenda. She bases all of her crap on her and her privileged friends experiences dealing with holier than thou type moms, and claims that there is more pressure to breastfeed than to formula feed (which is bullshit).

Her and her friends even went so far as to make a podcast where they sit around on couches and bad mouth La Leche League, and laugh about how annoying it is to be a nursing mom, and how they wish they had had someone tell them then what Hanna is telling them now- it's not important, you can stop if you want. Bottles of formula are just as good, they say. Pumping is a pointless hassle. (Bullshit)

I could barely get through the podcast. These woman made me sick.

And they had the balls to use my song Tire Swing as the intro, outro, and between segment music.

Without permission.

So I found Hanna Rosin on Facebook, and wrote to her, and told her that I wanted nothing to do with her message and if my song wasn't off the podcast by the next day I was calling a lawyer. She wrote back and said okay. The next day the song was still there and she had posted a blog called "Flamed By Kimya Dawson". A snarky post about how she saw that she had a message from me and was excited, she's a fan, blah blah, lo and behold.

So I wrote back to her leveling with her about how I felt about her message. Not based on medical fact. Undermining feminism and lactivism. Playing queen bee social politic games. Claiming her limited experience as "the norm". And so on and so forth.

She wrote back telling me I didn't know what I was talking about and she did because SHE'S A JOURNALIST.

A journalist telling a musician - "Trust me, I got the facts, I am a journalist!" is comical. For the past 10 years I have watched journalists skew words, mix up facts, and edit interviews for the benefit of their own agenda. There are some solid ones out there, but I am not the type to generalize and assume that (because you have a pencil, a notepad, internet access, and someone to put your story on their site) you know what you are talking about JUST because you are a journalist.

But Hanna Rosin was not going to budge because of what I was saying and I had all these other wars to fight (i.e. Comcast), so I just said- "Fine, I am done". The song was down by this point and I didn't have the energy to keep butting heads. I knew she was wrong and our head-to-head on the FB was going nowhere.

Sigh.

I know that some women have medical issues and can't nurse their babies. Some babies have medical issues and can't latch on. Some women suffer from mental illness or post partum depression. Some women are on medication that isn't compatible with nursing. Some women have to work and can't pump enough. I understand. Not EVERYONE can breastfeed their baby.

But people need to understand that, as far as health and bonding is concerned, it is the best option. And it is worth the struggle. And there is support. Online and off. You have to really look for it sometimes. But it's out there.

It is important to work toward becoming a society that supports breastfeeding, rather than giving up because it's inconvenient. Why write off the people doing this important work? Does it help some people who just don't want to nurse get over the guilt of that choice by declaring the rest of us "boob nazis"?!

I will whip out a boob anywhere, most of you have probably seen at least a peek of my giant milk bags. And it's not because I think public nursing is cool or because I am trying to be extreme. It is because, like pooping and periods, BREASTFEEDING IS NORMAL. WE ARE ANIMALS. THIS IS HOW ANIMALS FEED THEIR BABIES. I am not ashamed. I will nurse in the store, at the park, in the privacy of my own home, and at the merch table. Nursing is the best option. Bottle feeding pumped or expressed breast milk is the next best option. Even if those aren't the most convenient options.

Being a parent isn't easy. It isn't supposed to be easy. And disagreeing with stubborn, snarky journalists isn't easy either but I am not alone. The United States Breastfeeding Committee doesn't agree with her either.

Back from hiatus

Dearest Readers,

Yes, I am back from my week+ long hiatus. It was a restful time for me, but now we have so much to catch up on. There are many updates to come.

Before we get to the fun stuff, can we all take a moment to honor and remember two women we lost during that time? RIP Natasha Richards and Jade Goody, two women who recently met their untimely deaths. Out of respect for their friends and families, the Pop Culture Prisoner will not be covering their deaths, besides to say that both losses are extremely unfortunate and that our condolences go out to those whose lives were touched by these brave women.

Details of these deaths are, and should be, personal matters. Instead, I am electing to focus on honoring their memory and on bettering myself as a person. We can't change when those we love leave us or when we leave the world. We can only focus on the imprint we leave on the world, through the love we share with others, the works we leave behind, and letting ourselves grow as individuals.

Sorry to get too serious, but I thought that needed to be said.

Britney is busting out of her top like whoa in this video. The Duggars would not approve. Maybe cousin Amy would. I mean she does listen to contemporary music.

Honestly, this song is really nothing special. Yeah, ~~the songwriters~~ Britney found a way to "cleverly" sneak some naughtiness past the FCC, but that's where the creativiity ends. The rest of the song sounds like it could have been recorded by an blonde or combination of blondes within the past ten years. Wild Orchid could have done it. It's just not that great. It does boast the Britney trademark of using "baby baby as a hook. I'm sorry, I mean "baybeh baybeh", 'cause that's she pronounces it.

So to recap, not that great, could have been done by anyone, overhyped.

ADAM GREEN's soundtrack to the play TIMBUKTU premieres in Germany March 21st!

Adam Green composed 9 original instrumental songs for the play adaptation of Paul Auster's novel "Timbuktu".

The songs will be featured in the play, which is set to premiere in Tübingen on March 21st at the renowned Zimmertheater.

For anyone wishing to hear the songs, and unable to attend the play, the songs will be released on Rough Trade Records in the near future!

My first real blog =)
Current mood: blessed

Hey guys!I haven't actually posted a real blog yet so I thought it was time for my first one =) For starters I just wanted to thank everyone that has been so supportive and have sent me nice comments and messages. I haven't been able to reply to everyone but I will sit down soon and try and get through my messages and comments and return as many as I possibly can. For those of you that have asked about Maddie she is doing wonderful! She is almost 9 months old now and time is flying by so quickly! Those of you that have children can agree with me when I say it seems like they don't stay little for long.. Maddie is teething now and actually has a couple teeth showing through and it's so adorable..but what isn't so adorable is when she chomps down on whoevers fingers she can get a hold of. For a little one she has a powerful bite! Lol She is attempting to crawl but she's so chubby, hehe that all she does is scoots around the floor but trust me when I say it's too cute and I know before long she will be crawling all over the place and I'll be chasing after her.
And OMGosh I went to one of Britney's concerts and she is back with a bang! I know you think I am just saying that because I am her sister but you really should check out her concert..if she is not coming to your area or you can't find tickets anywhere search for videos on youtube because people have told me there is some on there. I am so proud of Britney..she has really turned her life around and I knew she could do it! Us Spears girls never let anything or anyone get us down for long and if there is something you think we can't do we will be sure to prove you wrong.
Many people have been asking me if I am considering singing. Yes, I am thinking about pursuing a singing career. I have tried pop music in the past and two of my songs are on my page for you to check out. I've been in the studio a few times lately trying out different varities including country but I haven't done anything serious and I haven't been looking for a label yet but when I start looking you guys will be the first to know. =)
And yes, Casey and I are still together and we still are planning on marrying. I am not even 18 yet so don't rush me people, Lol. As soon as the time is right it will be made official. We did have some problems there for awhile but we are working things out together for the sake of Maddie and he really is an awesome father.
And one last thing..this myspace and my personal myspace which can be found in my top friends are MY ONLY myspaces. People have been coming to me lately talking about this poser saying this and this poser saying that and really I can't sit here and take the time to report every poser out there. If you have any other 'Jamie Lynn' friends delete and block them from your friends because I can assure you they are NOT ME and they are just someone who has too much time on their hands or a fan of mine that is taking it to the extreme. I doubt myspace will ever be competely poser free which is sad unless Tom can come up with someone to help us out with that. Tom, can you hear me? Lol
But once again thank you for all of your support and keep the sweet messages and comments coming, I will try to reply to each of you when I get the time but if not just know that I do read each of my messages and comments that are sent to me.
